Friends: The One with Sam and Dave's Big Decision

Dave sighed. How he hated those decisions. What he really wants to do was to spend the glorious twelfth on a Scottish moor, followed by a couple of weeks on a massive gin palace in the Caribbean, and perhaps routing back through Florida for a cup of tea with Rupert. But Steve and Craig had told him he would not go down too well with undecided voters.

"Why do we have to go through this charade ridiculous?" Said Sam, echoing his thoughts. "We have a lot of money. Well, I do it anyway. And we have lots of airline miles, because I put the new kitchen on our credit card. So why can’t we have a proper holiday for once? Am I even going to be allowed out of Europe while you’re Prime Minister?”

“Is life really that bad?” said Dave. “I did take you to Granada for your 40th.”

“On Ryanair.”

“And we went to Ibiza a couple of months ago.”

“On Easyjet. And you spent the whole time trying to make me take you to a rave.”

“The point,” said Dave, “is that I am the Prime Minister of a Coalition Government presiding over an economy spluttering along at 0.2 per cent growth in the last quarter. It doesn’t look that good if we swan off round the world in first class.”

“Fine, fine,” said Sam. “I get it. Let’s have another look at the list.” She pushed Dave out of the way. “What about Greece?”

“Very funny.”

“Or Corfu. We could see if George and Peter are around.”

“Look,” said Dave. “If you carry on like this, I’m taking you to Southwold and wearing a blazer all weekend.”

“Sorry,” said Sam, not looking very sorry. “How about Stockholm Skavsta? I bet Gordon has never been there.”

“I think Stansted is closer to the city of Stockholm than Stockholm Skavsta airport is.
